Subay & Arashi

(Teaching Rope)

Subay is a Shibari artist and founder of Kokoro Studio based in Hong Kong.

Subay was first introduced to Shibari eight years ago when she was fascinated by its aesthetics, eroticism and emotions.  She spent the first few years exploring and learning the different styles from several well-respected nawashi in Japan.  In 2014, she met and was deeply inspired by Yukimura Haruki sensei.  Afterwards, she dedicated herself to the study of traditional Japanese style.  In 2015, Subay met Naka Akira sensei and chose to focus her study on sensei’s style of semenawa.  She continues to explore her own style of semenawa which is both feminine and inclusive.

In March 2018, Subay had the honour of performing at Onna Matsuri (おんあ祭り) in Tokyo.  In 2018 and 2019, she had the privilege to tie and assist at Naka sensei’s satsuei-kai (縄奈加會緊縛撮影会) and in November 2019, she assisted Naka sensei in his workshops in San Francisco.

Subay teaches and performs internationally, including Asia, Europe and US.  Her teaching focuses on the “why”, the feelings, the emotions, and provides insights on the perspective of both the rope top and the rope bottom.  She is available for private lessons and private sessions.

Arashi (嵐) is a rope bottom based in Hong Kong. She discovered her passion for traditional style of rope when she saw Subay’s performance in 2015. She was attracted to the aesthetics, the sensuality and the emotions in kinbaku. In 2018, she began her rope journey with Subay. Since 2019, she has been a staff at Kokoro Studio and has worked with a number of talented rope tops.

She deeply enjoys the communication and connection with Subay, as well as the dualities of suffering and sensuality in kinbaku. She looks forward to sharing her thoughts about kinbaku while getting more inspirations from the worldwide community.

(Teaching Rope)

Tifereth's introduction to rope bondage came in 2011 in the form of a surprisingly enjoyable futomomo tsuri. Since then she's drawn on her dual background in high-performance athletics and figurative arts to push herself physically and aesthetically on both ends of the rope. Known for her dynamic style of sadism, performative rope and creative approach to harness construction, she loves conveying her passion through engaging hands-on methods of instruction. A veteran educator and performer with credits including Prague Shibari Festival, Bondage Expo Dallas, Eurix, Shibaricamp, Helsinki Shibari, Shibaricon, as well as weekend workshops and performances all over the globe, she is most often found wherever the weird stuff is.

(Teaching Rope & BDSM )

-EM-. Based in Memphis, Tennessee and active in the BDSM community since 2010, EM is a sadistic rope and whip enthusiast whose interests lie in pushing his bottoms with strenuous yet beautiful poses. With years of experience learning rope from various artists across North America, his interpretation of Japanese bondage stems from a desire to withdraw submission from the female form and highlight its beauty through suffering and strain. EM's primary interests (rope, whips, photography) stem from his interests in perfecting technique, skill, and accuracy with regard to all forms of S&M play.

(Teaching Rope & BDSM)

Isean (pronounced E-shawn) is an avid fitness enthusiast and a student of multiple disciplines of yoga. She is an experienced presenter who has taught rope all over the US, and internationally.

A skilled rigger and very experienced bottom, she began with an interest self- tying 6 years ago. Isean has worked with a number of talented riggers and bottoms and developed her own hands-on teaching approach which focuses on her sadistic style of tying. To her tying is art, trust, sensuality, pain, lust, and more.

Her style continues to evolve as she incorporates new disciplines and techniques into her own

practice. She hopes students will be able to find new knowledge in her teaching, and use it to expand their skills and develop their own individual style.

(Event Photographer & Teaching Rope and photography)

Beginning 25 years ago with a mix of flea market handcuffs, bathrobe belts and neck ties, knot_head has always loved bondage.

Although he began with Japanese-style rope, he’s since gravitated to the strict, clean, efficient, Western style of riggers like Jay Edwards, Matt Williams, Lew Rubens and Claire Adams. For him, it IS about the simple, strict, positional bondage, and "what happens once she's tied", challenging predicaments being his favorite.

In the past two years he caught the photography bug and loves showing kinksters how easy it can be to get a quality shot with their gear, in almost any setting.

His shtick is to make bondage (and photography) simple and fun for anyone willing to learn.

Miss_Curiosuty  has been tying since the fall of 2015, and very few weeks have since passed without several days of rope study and practice.  Her interest in rope began when she witnessed her first rope scene.  Not too long after, she felt the rope against her own skin, and from that moment on, she has developed a (mostly) healthy rope obsession.  The care and feeding of this obsession is comprised of attendance to as many classes, intensives, and rope conventions as she can manage, as well as taking private lessons with excellent bakushi/riggers at every given opportunity, and eventually, teaching some beginner private lessons and public classes herself. She is active in the leadership of her local rope community, including IRC: Indy Macramé and Indy Rope Collective.  She identifies as a top-leaning switch, and regularly self-suspends, ties with her partners, and bottoms in rope when the right opportunity arises. She is passionate about rope and loves sharing her knowledge with others, as well as cherishes every opportunity she is given to learn more.

To follow her work and get a taste of her style, you can find her on FetLife as Miss_Curiosity_, or on Instagram at curiousity_rope.

 (Teaching Rope)

JD-66 is a Toronto, Canada based rigger who started tying in 2008. His style has evolved over the years but is mostly a playful semi sadistic style of rope. He loves playing with balance and unbalance in rope and reading his partner and taking them to places they didn't expect. He owns and runs The Toronto Kinbaku Salon which just had its fifth anniversary in Oct 2018. The Salon as it is commonly referred to is a Kazami Ryu where the Kazami style of rope is taught to its many students. We also host other presenters from around the world of various styles.

He loves helping and teaching other Kazami Style but has some background in other styles so he is able to meld various styles to help people with developing and adding to their repertoires and creating their own individual style.

(Teaching Rope & BDSM)

LaughingDragon  & Feinix have been doing rope and dance together for over 7 years. With a combined BDSM experience of close to 30 years between them it was a natural step to get into teaching BDSM to others and have been doing so across North and Central America for the last 6 years.

Together they love to showcase their unique style of rope/dance fusion in their dynamic fast paced performances to audiences of all backgrounds. Rope conventions, art shows, cruises, fetish events, lifestyle takeovers, and festivals are a few of the events they've had the pleasure to perform at. They love the chance to show people a new side of rope bondage that they before maybe didn't know was an option.

Well known for their water bondage classes, LaughingDragon and Feinix have had a lot of fun teaching others how to do safe(r), fun bondage play in and with water. They aim to make a comfortable inviting environment for anyone who takes their classes to learn and ask questions.

(Teaching Rope)

Marceline vq is an internationally recognized shibari artist whose work challenges viewers with aesthetic and technically complex rope work. She engages rope from all perspectives—as a model in her own rope, with other models in her rope, and as a model in others’ rope—allowing for a deeper understanding of the medium as a creative and connective tool. She adores the sensory experience of being in rope, as well as the idea of becoming “human sculpture.” Her work engages in conversation with themes from quantitative disciplines including geometry and physics and with themes from qualitative disciplines including analytic philosophy and universal empathy. She has studied with shibari communities across the globe, and is classically trained in visual fine arts.

iambic9 is a self-taught photographer based in Phoenix, AZ.  He has developed a reputation for reliably capturing event/performance photos in challenging lighting conditions, without the aid of flash photography.  Conversely, his home studio work is heavily lit, continually experimenting with advanced multiple light configurations and modifiers.

In his personal life, iambic9 is a bondage fetishist and bottom-leaning switch, using a mix of leather, rope, pantyhose, and custom gear.  He believes there is no such thing as adding "too much" bondage to any situation, and that you can always tighten the buckle another notch...

(Teaching Rope & BDSM)

Steve (Niho_Mano)- is an ever-evolving man of many devious devices from needles to rough body play. His greatest passion lies in rope bondage and suspension. He is a Master, sadist and rigger sprinkled with just the right amount of sick fucker to keep things interesting. Steve has been in the greater Houston scene since 2014 and practicing rope bondage since 2015. He has taught and performed for the past three years with his slave, Nkay. Together they present classes with the perspective of both sides of the slash.

Nadia (Nkay)- Nkay, slave and sadomasochistic rope switch, is equal parts twisted mind and ball full of giggles. She is a passionate medical professional and yoga enthusiast with three years of rope bottoming experience. She brings a different perspective to bottoming and body mechanics through the mingling of her combined passions. Locally, Nadia loves to perform, co-present with her Owner Niho_Mano, and lead rope bottoming education classes.

(Teaching Rope)

MnR discovered shibari in 2014 and this evolved into a love affair with ropes. He enjoys learning, practicing and connecting with different people and attends many rope workshops in the UK and abroad. Although he mostly ties, he greatly enjoys getting tied when there is an opportunity. He has been a regular at Anatomie Studio since it opened and quickly became an essential member of the studio. He has been published in Artplay Magazine and has provided rope work for videos including an award winning art installation in Oslo.

(Teaching Yoga and Acro Yoga)

Thalia joined the Kink community 4 years ago, with primary focus on rope, shenanigans, and art. She is an experienced and knowledgeable self-tier, rope bottom, and top. Her methods can only be described as “hilariously sadistic.” She uses her B.S. in Nursing and her experience as a Registered Yoga Instructor to continuously envision new and creative ways to tie, torture, and contort the human body, and to identify safety concerns. Rope, Yoga, and the Kink Community have brought a heightened level of joy and perspective to Thalia’s life, and she attributes much of this to the great experiences and even greater people that have guided and supported her on her journey. Communication, vulnerability, and true connection are her “why.” Teaching and inspiring others has allowed Thalia to give back to the community she loves and to share a beautifully twisted and unique side of herself with others.
